Studio 87

Studio 87 is a unique and independent art space where old is submerged with the new. Historically, its structure was used as part of the many stores and stalls of the bustling market area down by the harbour and pixkerija. Following WWII and many years of neglect, the space has been ethically restored to its full splendour. Having once been a store for my great aunty Tessie, it is with great pride that I open Studio 87 to the public as a means to promote the arts. The area is divided into two parts, the ground floor serving as an exhibition space and the upper is dedicated to restoring artworks, particularly paintings. Studio 87’s ethos focuses on showcasing widely known contemporary artists but more importantly on shedding new light on emerging local and international artists of different mediums, whilst always maintaining quality and aesthetic value.
