SNAPArts formed in 2012, and is associated with Architects’ practice - SNAPArchitects. We are situated in Walker House, a large Victorian property - one of five forming ‘Tower Terrace’ which is centrally located just five minutes walk from Westgate station, Wakefield Cathedral and the Cultural Quarter.

We exhibit contemporary Fine Art - complemented by a programme of salon* events - artist talks, small conferences. and performance art - poetry, drama and music. Our shows are of high quality, and the great care taken and attention to detail in the curating and hanging of each exhibition is much appreciated by our visitors and artists. We have gained a reputation as a distinctive place to see and purchase high quality works by both emerging and established artists from Yorkshire and beyond.

The gallery currently occupies three principal spaces on the Ground Floor of Walker House, with its very high ceilings and original Victorian mouldings : the main entrance hall / stairwell, and two main rooms with dividing, folding doors which can create one large exhibition / performance space from the original Victorian dining room and ‘parlour’. We are in the process of carry out works to create further exhibition space in the lower ground floor which will enhance and add versatility to our exhibition offer, including the opportunity to show video installations and film.

We run a bimonthly programme of changing exhibitions; opening events are generally by invitation only, in addition to which we hold two or three private views for each exhibition, usually at weekends. Visitors are also welcome at other times, by appointment. We are always interested to meet new artists & collectors; please get in touch.

*Taking our cues from the concept of the 17th century French 'SALON', defined as : 'A gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host (usually a woman), held to amuse, refine taste and increase knowledge’.
