Seamus Heaney HomePlace is an arts and literary centre in Bellaghy, Northern Ireland, at the heart of the area where Seamus Heaney grew up and drew much of the inspiration for his poetry.
Visitors to HomePlace will find an interactive exhibition on Seamus Heaney’s life and literature on two floors. His life story is animated through personal photographs, artefacts and audio recordings of his own words. Highlights include a representation of Seamus Heaney’s Dublin attic study, much of his personal library, his famous duffel coat and school desk.
HomePlace has a 191-seater performance space for arts and literary events, a creative zone with workshops for visitors, an education programme, café and shop featuring work by selected local craft makers. Visitors can enhance their visit to HomePlace with a tour of local places significant to the life and work of Seamus Heaney.
