Pyramid Gallery is a privately owned shop and gallery in the heart of medieval York, close to The Minster. Established in 1982, Pyramid offers one of the country’s finest selections of British made contemporary crafts, jewellery and original prints. Pyramid Gallery is currently owned and managed by Terry Brett who took over the business in 1994, initially with his partner Elaine Brett.

Selected in 1990 for Quality by the Crafts Council, the gallery displays work by many leading designers and makers who work in Glass, Ceramics, Wood and Metal as well as work by designer jewellers. One of the conditions of the Crafts Council selection was that items offered for sale were made in the UK. Whilst the Crafts Council has discontinued the selection of individual businesses, Pyramid Gallery has maintained the principle of showing and stocking work from UK based designers and makers. The only exceptions to this are a handful of British makers who have moved to France and some artists who have an element of their work made abroad. An example would be some bronze artists who might work with foundries located in the Far East. Please ask about specific makers.

On two floors of a National Trust owned fifteenth century building, the work of up to 150 British craft makers and artists may be viewed and purchased. Displays are constantly changing and the two first floor galleries are used for regular exhibitions of which details may be viewed on this web site.
