Amid contemporary art and archaeological finds, the Castromediano Museum is dedicated to the duke Castromediano is the most ancient in Puglia. 

Founded in 1868 by the duke of Cavallino Sigismondo Castromediano, Lecce Provincial Museum is the most ancient in Puglia. It houses a rich collection of finds belonging to the Messapian civilization and Roman settlements, among which terracotta, inscriptions, statues and Attic and Apulian vases. Located on the upper floor, the Art Gallery accommodates contemporary art exhibitions along with a permanent collection of paintings ranging from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, which bear witness to the Byzantine and Venetian influences on the creativity of local artists. Among the most prominent names, stand out Bartolomeo Vivarini, Paolo Finoglio and Oronzo Tiso.
