MARC STRAUS is a contemporary art gallery in the Lower East Side of New York. Established in 2011, the gallery occupies a fully reconstructed three-story historical building on Grand Street, in the center of an area that is enjoying a booming art scene with nearly 140 galleries now operating within a few block radius.

The gallery identifies and fosters some of the best new international art talent, representing sixteen artists from ten different countries, most of whom have not been shown in the US before. Additionally, the gallery has taken a position of showing older artists who have not for decades, or in some cases ever, been looked at in the proper light. It is this element of discovery, and re-discovery, that has established MARC STRAUS as one of New York’s leading contemporary art galleries.

In June 2014, FlashArt listed the gallery among the TOP 100 in the world. Gallery artists have been discussed by critics in the pages of the New York Times, Artforum, The Art Newspaper, Art in America, ARTNews, Flash Art International, The Brooklyn Rail, and Forbes, among others.

MARC STRAUS gallery artists have works included in permanent collections of international museums: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Denver Art Museum, The Smithsonian Institute, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Guggenheim, Tate Gallery London, Musée Centre George Pompidou Paris, Whitney Museum of American Art, Yale University Art Gallery, and the Nationalgalerie Munich.

Further extending its program to a wider audience, the gallery has participated in major art fairs and biennials both in the US and on an international platform in Europe and Asia. Gallery artists have been included in the recent Venice and Prague Biennials, and two artists were exhibited in the winter 2014-15 Prospect New Orleans.
