Berlin has a diverse and lively cultural landscape – we make it visible. For more than ten years, we as a partner of the State of Berlin have been working with our network to promote cultural education projects and develop and coordinate thematic years, events and exhibitions. We mediate art, culture and urban history, network and advise artists, culture professionals and those active in the creative industries.
Our cultural projects include citywide, large-scale events such as LICHTGRENZE (The Border of Lights) marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the LONG NIGHT OF MUSEUMS and BERLIN ART WEEK. The BERLIN PROJECT FUNDS FOR CULTURAL EDUCATION and the DIVERSITY.ARTS.CULTURE – Berlin Project Office for Diversity Development work under our auspices; we are developing the BERLIN EXHIBITION AT THE HUMBOLDT FORUM, run the KREATIV KULTUR BERLIN consulting centre and bring the city with our international city marketing campaign BERLIN 365/24 to a common denominator.
WHAT SETS US APART
We make the cultural diversity of our city and its history visible. Our projects are participatory and aim to reach as many people as possible.
As a non-profit organisation, we often develop projects for the State of Berlin. The key to our unusual concepts, surprising ideas and a comprehensive transfer of experiences is our network. We bring a wide range of players from the worlds of culture, education, science, politics and the economy together to realise cultural projects for Berlin – in fact it’s all in our name: Kulturprojekte Berlin.
PROJECTS, EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS
Kulturprojekte Berlin develops and coordinates both recurring and one-off-large-scale projects, events and exhibitions throughout Berlin. We realise the LONG NIGHT OF MUSEUMS, coordinate the BERLIN ART WEEK and organise the biennial EMOP BERLIN – EUROPEAN MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY.
Our unique projects include the theme year DESTROYED DIVERSITY. BERLIN 1933-1938 in 2013, LICHTGRENZE (The Border of Lights) marking the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 2014 and the anniversary programs for BERLIN’S CITY PARTNERSHIPS. Current projects include work on the BERLIN EXHIBITION AT THE HUMBOLDT FORUM along with Stadtmuseum Berlin, and planning for DAY OF GERMAN UNITY 2018 is in our hands as well. Together with visitberlin we are jointly responsible for the BERLIN 365/24international city marketing campaign. We take administrative responsibility for the digital culture and art festival TRANSMEDIALE and SCHAUBUDE BERLIN, a venue for contemporary puppet and objective theatre.
PROMOTION, CONSULTING & NETWORKING
Kulturprojekte Berlin promotes, accompanies and advises over 250 city-wide projects every year through the BERLIN PROJECT FUNDS FOR CULTURAL EDUCATION. Together with various partners, we have established our headquarter, PODEWIL, as a key location for cultural education in Berlin. We strengthen diversity in the cultural sector through the DIVERSITY.ARTS.CULTURE Berlin Project Office for Diversity Development. Our consulting centre KREATIV KULTUR BERLIN is where we advise artists and creative professionals about business plans and funding opportunities – a key contact point for creative professionals and artists in the city.
The online portals CREATIVE CITY BERLIN, KULTURFÖRDERPUNKT BERLIN, KREATIVWIRTSCHAFTBERATUNG BERLIN and KUBINAUT – NAVIGATION KULTURELLE BILDUNG connect various creative professionals, artists and cultural education players throughout the city.
EDUCATION, MEDIATION & INFORMATION
In addition to the numerous formats of cultural education, we also conceive and organize educational and mediation programmes for 13 museums and memorial sites with the MUSEUM SERVICE BERLIN. Such as in the Berlinische Galerie and the Topography of Terror Documentation Center the visitor support is provided by our more than 150 guides.
We publish the magazines MUSEUMSJOURNAL and MUSEUMSTIP and our online portals MUSEUMSPORTAL BERLIN and BERLIN BÜHNEN give an up-to-date overview of the city’s diverse scene in the area of museums and performing arts.
