The non-profit institution KAI 10 | ARTHENA FOUNDATION located in the Düsseldorf Media Harbour has been celebrating its tenth anniversary since the fall of 2018. This independent space for the promotion of contemporary art was founded by the entrepreneur Monika Schnetkamp in 2008. Since its opening, KAI 10 has presented to the public two to three theme-based group exhibitions per year. Within ten years, already more than 30 projects with works by over 150 artists could be realized. The main focus is on international, young and topical art, although established positions have also been featured. In addition to its exhibition programme, KAI 10 | ARTHENA FOUNDATION also supports the creative process itself and thus the development of artworks or their staging on site. Complementing other museums and art venues in the region, KAI 10 is open to the public free of charge at regular hours (except Mondays) and is conceived as an innovative model of entrepreneurial support for the arts. International recognition was gained especially through the institution’s participation in the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013, with an unusual project “work in progress” by Thomas Zipp on the topic of brain research.
