KÖNIG GALERIE (König Gallery)
Berlin, Germany
From 2006, the gallery was located in a former industrial building on Dessauerstraße after moving from its original location at the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz across from the Volksbühne.
In May 2015, KÖNIG GALERIE took up St. Agnes, a monumental former church built in the 1960s in the Brutalist style, where large-scale exhibitions take place in two different spaces, the former chapel and nave. The church was built by Werner Düttmann, an architect and Berlins director of urban development from 1960 to 1966. The renovations were realized by renowned architect Arno Brandlhuber.
Since October 2017 KÖNIG GALERIE runs KÖNIG London. A space for individual and site specific artist presentations.
KÖNIG GALERIE participates in international art fairs such as Art Basel, Frieze Art Fair, London, FIAC, Paris and Art Basel Miami Beach. The gallery has successfully placed works in a variety of private and public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Guggenheim Foundation. The artists represented have solo exhibitions with institutions worldwide, and regularly partake in prestigious group exhibitions, such as Documenta and the biennials in Venice, Berlin, New York and others. They have been awarded many important prizes, commissions and outdoor projects.
