Johnsons Island Artists
Brentford, United Kingdom
Open to the public during open studio events
Our pint-sized island was once used for the old station master’s and lock keeper’s offices, and originally formed part of Isambard Brunel’s Brentford Dock .
Now the island is home to 16 art studios, surrounded by dappling canal views, colourful narrowboats, a grumpy heron and the occasional flash of a kingfisher. It is a magical, creative space - where history, art and nature are woven together (as Samuel Pepys would agree when he sailed past for an illicit assignation with the Brentford lady in 1660!)
The artists work in a range of mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, mixed media, papier mâché, mosaics, jewellery and ceramics
