Islington Mill is a former cotton spinning mill in Salford, very close to Manchester's city centre. Unlike much of Manchester's industrial heritage, which has been converted into loft apartments, Islington Mill is now home to over 50 artists studios, an art gallery, an artist run B&B, an arts library and a venue space. It is also home to Islington Mill Art Academy, a free self-organised art school exploring alternatives to University based education for artists. The gallery space was formerly curated by 'Bureau' and will shortly be relaunched with a new programme of exhibitions and events.
