The Ibero-American Institute of Finland is one of fifteen Finnish centers for culture and science that conduct activities abroad. It is governed by the Ibero-American Foundation of Finland, primarily funded by the Ministry of Culture and Education of this Nordic country.
It was inaugurated in 1996 in cooperation with the Complutense University of Madrid, and has an official headquarters in the Faculty of Philology of said university. However, the main office and exhibition hall are located in the historic Barrio de las Letras.
