Raffaella Cortese founded her gallery in 1995 and currently represents 27 International emerging and established artists. The exhibition program has been developed throughout the years with a special interest for risk-taking, pioneering artists who defy fashionable trends, making it a lively forum where continuity and cutting-edge merge together. One of its main focus are International women artists from different generations, deepening critical issues such as gender, national and political identity, often using literature as a means of investigation.

In September 2003 the gallery moved from its original location in via Farneti  10 to its current location in via A.Stradella 7. In 2012 and later in 2014, two additional venues were opened in the same street to increase the exhibitions spaces for site-specific projects and multimedia installations.

During the years Galleria Raffaella Cortese participated to the main International art fairs. The gallery has successfully placed works in a variety of private and public collections and the artists have solo show with institutions worldwide in addition to participation in considerable group exhibitions. They have been awarded many important prizes and commissions.
