Founded in 2001 in Istanbul, Galerist is a pioneering contemporary art gallery that represents artists from Turkey in the local and international art scene. In recent years the audience for local contemporary art has increased and in response to this growing curiosity in Turkey, Galerist has, since 2008, started to organize exhibitions by established international artists In addition to its local operations, Galerist has established a strong presence in the international art scene by participating in leading art fairs.

Now in its tenth year of existence, Galerist has been restructured by the new partnership that took over in February 2011. Today, the ongoing aim of the gallery is both to discover emerging talents in the field of contemporary art and to provide a unique expression space for established artists.

Galerist Tepebaşı is the main exhibition site of the gallery. The historical building which dates back to the 18th century provides 250m2 of exhibition space and includes the gallery’s administrative offices.

Galerist Hasköy is the project space located in the historic Golden Horn district of Istanbul. Built in 1950s, the building was primarily used as a yarn factory before the recent refurbishment. It provides more than 500m2 of exhibition space on a site of 30,000m2.
