Galerie Michaela Stock was founded in Vienna in 2007 as a platform for young Austrian artists who are not yet established in the art world. The aim of gallery's programme is to explore the interrelations between the artistic practice as performance, photography, video and films as well as those between contemporary art theory and aesthetics and literature. In collaboration with curators, exhibition and performance projects are coordinated for the gallery and abroad

For the past years, the gallery has focused more on Central and Eastern European art, especially contemporary Croatian artists and supports destructive and radical art on their significance in the repertoire of manly attributes, such as powerful, strong and sexual power illustrations.

Michaela Stock established 2015 together with Marko Markovic (HR) DOPUST/OPEN DAYS OF PERFORMANCE VIENNA, an International festival of performance art. DOPUST was founded in 2008 in Split (HR), since then its network and collaboration with other organizations and artist has spread out on wide international level (NY, Vienna, Mexico City). DOPUST is therefore intended to provide a platform for new ways of critical thinking, for research and analysis and innovative models that promote cultural exchange and network in fields of performance theory and practice.

Nevertheless, the gallery will remain true to its original aims: promoting young artists, - that will remain an integral part of the gallery's mission, especially performance artists.

The gallery's three different exhibition spaces, consisting of the core part GALERIE MICHAELA STOCK and NEXT DOOR, which is temporally used for workshops and performance projects. UNTERER STOCK is the basement of the gallery for lectures, actions, screenings and exhibitions that extend and changes constantly. All the three places encourage the artists to design their work with the perspective of displaying it in one of these specific locations.
