In 2017, the FFA Gallery resumed its activities in the new premises of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the BUT on Údolní 244/53. Its programme is a continuation of the activities of the Auditorium Gallery, which was interrupted in 2016 due to the relocation of the faculty. The gallery has returned to its original name, thus more clearly declaring its mission and at the same time raising the profile of the institution of which it is an integral part. The gallery was founded in 2004 by the former dean of the faculty, doc. PhDr. Petr Spielmann, dr.h.c., with an initial exhibition of the legend of video art – Woody Vašulka. At the turn of 2004 and 2005, the Terry Haas exhibition followed, which already started the regular exhibition programme of the gallery. Since 2005, the gallery has hosted several solo and collective exhibitions to present young artists from the ranks of students and graduates of both Czech and foreign art schools. The FFA Gallery is thus a lively communication space for the emerging generation of artists and curators, as well as an experimental laboratory for an open dialogue between the academic environment and the public. The basic mission of the FFA Gallery is to present remarkable results in the field of art and design and to promote artists and authors, offering them a background for the professional presentation of their artistic production. Last but not least, the FFA Gallery plays an active role in the cultural life of the city and the region. The gallery's programme is selected based on an open call by the faculty's gallery advisory board, consisting of teachers, students, alumni and external curators.
