The Center for Contemporary Arts Prague and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Prague are continuing the activities begun by the Soros Center for Contemporary Art Prague in 1992. These institutions were created in order to support the development of contemporary fine art in the belief that art is an irreplaceable element of harmoniously operating democratic society. The founder and employees of the center are firmly of the opinion that through their activities the artist symbolizes and each in their own way realizes the process of free and creative human decision-making. The institution aims to support outstanding artistic projects and to present them to the general public.

The Cursor Gallery, a space for guest curators, is a new project being launched by the Foundation and Centre for Contemporary Arts. It will offer a selected curator the backup and resources of an established artistic organisation (institutional, production, research and financial) and a large exhibition space for which they will be able to prepare, perhaps for the first time in their career, a comprehensive exhibition project, including accompanying activities (lectures and panels, etc.) and annual publication. This support will be provided for one year. The format, strategy and themes are fully under the control of the guest curator. Each year the FCCA will contact a new curator who will take over the reins of the project.

The Jelení Gallery was established in 1999 as part of the Center for Contemporary Arts Prague. It aims to provide long-term support to young emerging Czech artists who often have their first solo exhibition in the gallery. The gallery program offers a systematic overview of the Prague young art scene as well as that of other regions. We cooperate with professors at art schools in Brno, Ostrava, Ústí nad Labem and Pilsen.

The Artwall Gallery, located on the load-bearing walls of Prague’s Letná Park on the Captain Jaroš Embankment, was created with the aim of revitalizing Prague’s public space and stimulating a dialogue between artists and the general public.

Since 2005, under the management of the Center for Contemporary Art Prague and thanks to the contributions of many partners, the space has been has been transformed into an open-air gallery that every year confronts the people of Prague and visitors to the city with various forms of public art.
