Drift Pop-Up Gallery @ The Mersea Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary artists and art practice on Mersea Island and is delighted to present Broad Horizon: a group show celebrating the work of both local photographers and those who live off the island.
Work in the exhibition will explore a wide interpretation of the theme from the literal to abstract and a re-examination of what the term ‘Horizon’ means to us.
Broad Horizon presents a diverse range of work, from the sensational and sublime landscapes and seascapes by prizewinning photographers Chrissie and Colin Westgate, to the painterly fine-art re-interpretation of the landscape by Patricia Forrest, the abstract ‘viral’ landscapes of Andy Brooke and John Cruttenden’s monochrome Scottish landscapes with an edgy sparse beauty.
These photographers also explore the notion of increasing their range of experiences, a photographer’s desire to expand their own personal horizons with travel immersing themselves in a specific culture or by experimentation with mixed-media, pushing the boundaries with the materials their images are applied to.
