Das Gift

Das Giftraum is an independent exhibition space which hosts shows by international and Berlin based artists. It is situated inside the bar Das Gift in Neukölln. Operating since 2011, a wide variety of media having been installed including painting, photography, film and slide projections, sound installations, poetry and performance as well as book and magazine launches and pop-up tattoo parlours. Exhibitions are installed for one weekend under gallery grade lighting on unfinished grey plaster walls.

Das Gift is an old Berliner style Eckkneipe (corner bar) which was taken over by a Scottish couple; one a musician and the other an artist. Serving good drinks to good music is the central concept of the bar. In addition to this there is a jukebox - an artwork in itself - holding playlists created by a host of musicians, artists, novelists, comedians and directors, inlcuding Robert Smith from The Cure, Pavement, The Smiths, Interpol, Errors, Mogwai, Irvine Welsh, Susan Phillipz and many more.

Smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking room. The whole space is powered with 100% renewable electricity.
