COU COU is an artist led non profit project space near Oxford UK. Based at Overlay Studio near Charlbury from 2010 until 2022 the project is now based in Bourton in the Vale of White Horse, South Oxfordshire.
COU COU supports artists through mentoring and opportunities for professional development by facilitating residencies and collaborative projects with emerging and mid career artists in the UK and internationally. COU COU curates performance and participatory art and works with partner arts organisations to do so. COU COU encourages dialogue between artists, curators and offers the studio as a shared critical context. COU COU shares its activities with an art going audience and in the wider community through exhibitions, talks and events. We especially welcome artists with connection to Oxfordshire and mature women artists.
COU COU curator is artist Clare Carswell MA(RCA) who founded the studio and project space in 2010. Guest curators are invited to develop projects and to support selection of artists. UK performance artist Peta Lloyd co-curates the BIDDY project for older women artists.
