The third annual Copenhagen Art Week kicks off in August when galleries, art fairs, museums and exhibition spaces join forces for a packed and diverse programme of special art events, showcasing all that is best in the Copenhagen art scene right now across 50 venues throughout the city.

The week kicks off in style on Friday, 21 August with the international art fair CHART at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, as well as a special edition of SMK Friday at the National Gallery of Denmark where Copenhagen Art Week presents new ways of meeting art. There follows nine exciting days of contemporary art – including exhibitions, debates, openings, artist talks, guided tours and many other activities. The week reaches a climax when five Contemporary Art Centres in Copenhagen come together with the exhibition TRUST featuring more than forty Danish and International artists presenting parties, performances, walks and a whole lot more.

The theme for this year’s Copenhagen Art Week is Shared Space. We ask what happens when art is exchanged and produced across different spaces. And what does it mean to create and experience art when we do it together? Shared Space aims to reinforce the idea that we all inhabit a shared space and that both art, and our experience of it, is a space we share, influence and negotiate constantly.

A full programme and the final list of participants will be published in the coming months. See more at www.copenhagenartweek.dk
