Brundyn+ is a contemporary art gallery based in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded in 2006, the gallery has made numerous shifts that led to its new location in the Bo-Kaap and has seen a restructuring of the gallery’s focus to African art and art from the diaspora. In addition to exhibiting established artists from across the globe, the gallery is also dedicated to developing significant and cutting edge (South) African contemporary artists. In working to achieve this, recent exhibitions have included artists such as Kiluanji Kia Henda (Angola), Nástio Mosquito (Angola), Emeka Ogboh (Nigeria), Sidy Diallo (Senegal) and Nick Cave (USA).

The gallery has adopted a focus on video artworks and features a dedicated video room that accompanies the three large exhibition spaces. Recently, Brundyn+ hosted commute with intuitive instinct, an exhibition entirely comprising video installations from local and international artists. Since the beginning of 2014, the gallery has concentrated on contributing to discussions on (South) African histories by implementing the monthly and interdisciplinary Brundyn Talks programme. The talks have seen composers (Neo Muyanga), art historians (Nomusa Makhubu and Ashraf Jamal) and filmmakers (Dylan Valley) engage in numerous discourses pertaining to historical and contemporary art
practices.

Brundyn+ regularly takes part in international art fairs and artists in the gallery’s stable are frequently included in exhibitions, biennales and established private and public collections across the globe. These include biennales such as BIAC, Martinique, Marrakech Biennale, Morocco and Dak’Art Biennale, Senegal; international museum collections such as the Saatchi Gallery, London; MoCADA, New York and 21 C Museum, Kentucky and local collections such as the Iziko South African National Gallery, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, the UNISA collection and the New Church Museum collection.
