Art Work Space is the brainchild of Naomi Murtagh, whose ambition is to create a forum in which to showcase the work of developing and emerging Artists working in all the various disciplines of Fine Art.
The gallery is situated in the hotel?s restaurant; a beautiful, minimalist space that cries out for work to be displayed within it. Murtagh, who was already a successful fashion designer with a passion for the Arts and a desire to move closer towards them, heard The Hempel had plans to move its restaurant. She took a chance and approached them with a proposal to house a gallery in the resulting empty space. The hotel, which has an impressive design heritage of its own, saw the drive and talent that Murtagh would bring to the space and agreed to let her take it, without condition; giving absolute curatorial freedom over the artistic programming.
