This June, the iconic tech, film, music and culture festival SXSW is landing in Shoreditch. We’re exploring Arts at SXSW, a series of free installations and exhibitions which sits alongside the ticketed programme.

SXSW is bringing its cutting-edge programme to London for the first time. As part of this, a free and dynamic arts programme reflects SXSW London’s unique spirit of convergence, featuring work by some of the most exciting UK and international artists. Read on to discover the three bold, interdisciplinary installations that you can experience during festival week.

Beautiful Collisions, 3 - 7 June at Christ Church Spitalfields

Curated by Beth Greenacre, Beautiful Collisions is an immersive exhibition presenting powerful yet joyful new commissions by artists of the Caribbean diaspora. Blending visual arts, community and music, it explores themes of identity, memory and resistance through sound, movement, sculpture and paint.

The exhibition centres on work by Alberta Whittle, Alvaro Barrington and his music project Emelda’s Junction in collaboration with Errol and Alex Rita’s Touching Bass, Denzil Forrester, Tavares Strachan & Runkus, and Zinzi Minott.

Alongside the exhibition, Christ Church will host a Caribbean café celebrating the flavours and ingredients of the region and its diaspora exploring the connections that food encourages between different places and people.

LDN LAB, 3 - 7 June at Protein Studios

The collision of artworks in LDN LAB explores past, present and future frontiers in the arts, technology and physical space, with films by Andy Warhol, an SXSW and UK exclusive from Beeple, collaborative AI and music-making from Holly Herndon & Mat Dryhurst, and contributions by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Marina Abramović and Glitch Collective. Curated by Alex Poots, produced by North Star Studio and presented in Protein Studios, LDN LAB explores the transformative place where art and technology meets.

Damien Roach: Grounding, 7 June at Truman Brewery

Grounding zooms in on the tradition of landscape imagery through the lens of cutting-edge generative AI and quantum physics. This immersive, audiovisual work explores the shifting nature of land, time and perception, inviting us to see beyond human perspectives in an era shaped by climate crisis, political uncertainty and digital complexity.
