Tucked away in one of the last remaining residential pockets of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, UR-MU (The Urban Museum) is a contemporary art space with a deeply personal backstory. Housed in a thoughtfully repurposed 1950s walk-up apartment block on Jalan Bedara, the museum showcases over 100 eclectic works from a private collection built over decades. Its founder Tan Loke Mun — an award-winning architect and lifelong art enthusiast — began collecting while studying in Australia in the 1980s, and his passion has evolved into a rich archive of Malaysian and Southeast Asian art. Designed with the belief that architecture and art belong side by side, UR-MU is both a creative sanctuary and a quiet architectural statement, offering visitors an intimate, reflective experience in the heart of the city.

UR-MU is opening its doors across three locations in the city, offering a packed week of contemporary art, culture, and connection. Expect daily guided tours led by knowledgeable museum staff, exclusive insights into their stunning collections, and even a few unexpected treats along the way. Oh – and free entry on Friday 16 May. You heard us.
