LA Spotlight: Sidney B. Felsen at the Getty Research Center

03 Jul 2024

by Jody Zellen

Last chance to explore this exhibition that traces decades of artistic collaborations and friendships at the printmaking studio, Gemini G.E.L., through the lens of Sidney B. Felsen. The exhibition runs until 7 July.

Gemini G.E.L. is a Los Angeles-based print shop founded in the 1960s by Stanley Grinstein and Sidney Felsen. Best friends and fraternity brothers at USC, they were also art collectors who wanted to work with artists and establish friendships. They joined forces with lithographer Ken Tyler to open what would become one of the most respected printmaking studios in the world. Over many decades, Felsen photographed the studio and the artists at work. The focus of this evocative and historically significant exhibition is his images and insightful documentation of the art created and the people involved at Gemini. Don't miss it—available until 7 July. Read Jody's review on What's On Los Angeles.
