Acme Propeller Factory Opens Doors for Urgent Fundraising Weekend to Secure Its Future in Deptford

01 Jul 2024

by ArtRabbit

From 12-14 July, step inside London's largest remaining long-term artist studio building of its kind for an open studios weekend.

Acme Propeller Factory is a former propeller foundry and paper bag factory in Deptford. Since 1990, it has housed artist studios, and over 650 artists have worked in the building, making it a vital part of Lewisham’s cultural scene.

Acme’s lease on the building is ending, and the London-based charity has until December 2025 to raise funds to purchase it. To kick off the fundraising campaign, around 100 artists are participating in public open studios and launching Acme's new public events and community engagement space within the building. Explore diverse practices and spaces, visit The Acme Archive, and delve into the building's rich history with family-friendly trails. London needs artists, and artists need space in London. Entry is free and open to the public.
