Louise Lawler: GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS
10 Nov 2023 — 10 Feb 2024
Sprüth Magers | Los Angeles
Los Angeles, United States
Louise Lawler's photographs, presenting pieces from her 'Swiped', 'Adjusted-to-Fit', and 'Traced' series, investigate both art history and her own work, questioning the authority of both institutions and artists.
Louise Lawler has been creating photographic works that concentrate on the presentation and collection of fine art since the early 1980s. She is interested in the context and relationships between the displayed items, as well as the infrastructure and curatorial practices of the institutions or individuals exhibiting them.
