Stereoscope, a Scottish based photography magazine has released its biannual issue. Contemplating the theme of 'Intimacy', the magazine showcases stunning film photography alongside literary excerpts from young photographers and writers.

Located in the coastal town of St Andrews, Stereoscope occupies an intersection between historic and modern photography. The town holds a unique place in the development of this medium: in the mid 19th century, scientists and artists converged in St Andrews, resulting in the development of pioneering photographic processes including the stereograph and calotype. The university's archives conserve this portion of photographic history among some 900 000 other photographs.

Stereoscope's objective is both to conserve and illuminate this area of photographic history and display the work of emergent photographers.

The recently released issue on intimacy is not looking into defying what intimacy is but rather expanding the understanding of it. From intensely personal expression to voyeuristic curiosity, the photos and writing span a spectrum of sensitive responses to this capacious theme.

Stereoscope Magazine is distributed internationally through art & design bookstores, museum shops and online. If you would to like to know more about it or can't find it in your country please visit stereoscopemagazine.com.
