With Ákos Ezer (*1989 Pécs, lives in Budapest) the Künstlerhaus presents a Hungarian painter of the younger generation, who thematically explores the reality of the present of his home country.

About

Subject of his paintings are mostly male figures who are intentionally tumbling, which almost seems slapstick-like. Besides, a new series of paintings displays gigantic portraits with twisted necks. The moment of falling and the physical contortions become thematic gestures in Ákos Ezer’s art works; they befall the protagonists mostly in every day situations. With the help of these bodies, which seem disconnected due to their strange movements, the artist manages to forcefully talk about failure, clumsiness and the fallibility of the individual and society as a whole. Ezer’s colorful and figurative compositions draw on an abstract language of forms, whereby a conceptual pinch of humor hones the portrayal of the stumbling blocks of the private as well as the public life.
