We – the curatorial collective Kleine Humboldt Galerie – are currently working on the upcoming exhibition zwischen körpern opening on November 6th. The exhibition will approach the physical body as both, starting point and destination, a map modeled by society and its structures. Throughout these considerations we will examine control mechanisms interacting with different bodies. How do we react as beings of flesh and blood to this omnipresence of control? Which strategies of self-determination can be found to deconstruct social norms and stigmata?
Our exhibition venue, a former slaughterhall adjoining the Tieranatomisches Theater that has been used in the past to prepare animal carcasses is going to play a key role. The building’s historical context will enhance the possibilities to dissect and examine the conceptual pair »body – control« individually for every visitor.
