Murdoch¹s photographs explore issues of gender and self, looking at the representation of the body in relation to its improvised surroundings. In these pictures ambiguity reigns sovereign. Here the artist becomes photographer and model, subject and object, at the same time. These works break with traditional models of representation and are influenced by the artist's inner world and her curiosity concerning a fragmentary but strong-felt reality.
