Zoe Kreye uses forms of embodiment to create interdisciplinary art projects that explore transformation, collective experience and negotiations of public.
About
For her SPACE commission Kreye is collaborating with St Joseph’s Hospice to explore the complexities of loss and the transformations it can induce. For this exchange, movement techniques, sculpture and allegory are used to place focus onto the body to encourage speculative fictions.
Her practice reflects possibilities of relations, by offering creative and accessible ways to understand them, for example: sculptures cast from storefronts and shopkeeper’s bodies to document a neighbourhood’s vanishing future; a running club that negotiates collective trauma; public processions to unlearn habitual norms and community kitchens that help negotiate an intercultural society. Kreye often looks outside the realm of art for tools and inspiration; she is trained in conflict mediation and community development that compliments her art practice.
