The tension between the wonder and banality of everyday life are at the root of Fugazza’s work.
About
Figurative images relating to intimate yet universal interactions between lovers, children and friends are painted or carved onto a variety of supports. The pigments used are hand mixed by Fugazza, and derived from organic materials. A key concern is the combining of new and more ancient techniques in order to experiment with notions of the authentic or natural. Compositions include depictions of the devices of contemporary life such as smartphone and laptops, but in Fugazza’s spare and sensitive visual language these are set adrift in a timeless space, where screens become portals and tablets stones.
