YVONNE JONGELING SOLO SHOW “MOMENTEN” -NEXT IN THE ARROYO ARTS COLLECTIVE BLUE WALL ALCOVE AT AVENUE 50 STUDIO

Artist Statement: 

Nail polish sparked my artistic journey from childhood as I traded nickels for vibrant hues at Woolworth's, infusing every moment with color and sparkle. My Dutch upbringing, marked by encouraging parents and nostalgic salty licorice treats, fueled my independent creativity.

Guided by Dixie, my high school art teacher, and later by formal education at Cal State Long Beach, I embraced diverse mediums, from photography to ceramics, weaving moments of life into meticulously crafted squares. Female identity, historical references, and the spectrum of existence converge in my work, inviting viewers to reflect on their own memories and mental images.

Recently, I've delved into my travel memories, infusing paintings with love, self-exploration, and human connections to nature. Exhibited widely, from the Brea Gallery to the Armory Center for the Arts, my art continues to evolve, expanding creative boundaries and resonating with shared experiences and personal recollections.

Sip and Stitch Talk/Workshop Info:

The Arroyo Arts Collective is sponsoring my solo exhibition at the Blue Wall Alcove in Avenue 50 Studio from June 4th - June 29th. I've titled my exhibit "Momenten," which means "moments" in Dutch.

Please mark your calendars for a special Sip and Stitch Talk/Workshop about my painting titled "I Am The Same Fish" on June 8th from 2-4pm. The talk will conclude with a complementary plastic canvas mini love project and include tea and scones. All materials will be provided for those who RSVP by emailing yvonnejongeling@gmail.com
