White Conduit Projects is delighted to present Katayama’s second solo show at the gallery. Here she presents "many moods” pursuing her ongoing explorations of our perception of the world.

About

Yumi Katayama is best known for her colourful and surreal paintings which shift in style and reflect the places and encounters of her life. Delicate and multi-faceted pictorial ethereal dramas are painted with a specific multi-coloured palette of pinks, greens, blues, yellows and greys. Jewels, trees, shapes and other objects float in landscapes or are positioned in gridded interiors referencing geometric patterns. Consistency here is a rule to be bent and sometimes a gridded object will be positioned outside in the landscape making the interior exterior, and visa versa.
