“Imagine independent spaces where all individuals would be free to come and work … without the pressure of expectation. This could be revolutionary for art.” - Li-E Chen
With art spaces closing down across London, art schools focusing on the sellable product and arts funding being savagely cut, where can people find the place to create without pressure?
YOU: the person reading this
UTOPIA (Greek: ou = not, topos = place): an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect
Youtopia is a 31 hour festival with no pressure. There is no pre-planned programme, there are no pre-existing works; it is an exploration of process, created by everyone involved. Workshops, discussions, art pieces, solo and collaborative work, anarcho-communist uprisings - all these things could occur both in the physical and the online world.
There is space: the Green Rooms art hotel.
There is time: the 10th to the 11th of June continuously.
There is money: distributed by the Queen of Capital for your expenses.
We welcome process in all mediums. Come with ideas to develop, come looking for ideas to emerge, come to investigate your own Youtopia with us.
