New Turkish Art is pleased to present Young Turks, a group show of new work by young, up-and-coming Turkish artists.
About
This exhibition, curated by renowned landscape artist Kadir Ablak, will feature 15 young Turkish artists: Utku Oksuz, Sumer Serif, Besir Bayar, Dian Karakus, Cihan Aktas, Irem Tokgonul, Mehmet Babat, Elif Havuz, Ali Cem Levent, Ertugrul Berberoglu, Mehmet Akturk, Samet Ozturk, Sidar Baki. The exhibition introduces a new wave of emerging, unknown Turkish artists into the UK art scene. The works, mainly paintings in oil or acrylic, are representative of each artist's own style, including a range of cityscapes, nature paintings and figurative pieces, as well as abstract paintings. The current situation in Turkey tends to restrict freedom of expression and stifle independent voices. As a result, the work of Turkish artists is often rich in symbolism and hidden meanings, highlighting their sense of intellectual frustration while sharing their hopes for the future.
