The UK-Mexican Arts Society (UKMAS), announces its first annual prize ‘Young Mexican Painting in the UK’.
About
This year, the winners are eight young artists from Baja California, Mexico City, Mexico State, Morelos, Oaxaca, Sinaloa and Yucatán. The aim of this exhibition is to give Londoners a chance to see, both at the gallery as well as virtually, the great variety of work done by young artists around Mexico.
This year’s topic is ethnicity in Mexico. we invite you to see how these eight artists approach the subject from diverse perspectives that have in common the interconnected nature of race, class and gender. This exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy in the UK / AMEXCID and the Mexican British Society.
Artists: José Ángel Santiago, José Chi Dzul, María Vez, Yazú Escapa, Ruth González, Nickthe León, Irving Correa and Alejandro Galván.
