For the 18th time, Fotografisk Center presents the exhibition series Ung dansk fotografi. With Christine Almlund from Bruun Rasmussen Art auctions as guest curator shows the exhibition under the theme 'identity' some bids on the photograph of today.
Young Danish Photography '18 shows works by five selected art photographers - María Kristín Hassing Antonsdottir, Hulda Sif Ásmundsdóttir, Julia Jayko Fossland, Lisbeth Johansen and Dan Frisk Petersen. Everyone has worked on personal stories - both their own and others, and used the photograph as a tool for retaining memories and investigating the origins that help create our identity.
Through analog photography, collage, poems, family portraits and nature photographs, the viewer is brought from a death home in southern Jutland to snowy landscapes in Norway and magnificent but bipolar nature in Iceland and further down into old family albums and dusty archives. All this in a search for the personal narrative, however, does not exclude that the viewer himself can fill the inch holes in history with his own memories and minds.
In addition to works by the five art photographers, the exhibition presents a video program from an open call, where the eight participating artists are Cecilie Penney, Jeppe Lange, Sophie Søborg Mosbæk, Katrine Holmgren, Anne Sofie Nørskov, Mikkel Haynes, Freya Sif Hestnes and Samara Sallam.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with text by Christine Almlund. In addition, the Photographic Center prepares teaching materials for the education and a children's assignment. In connection with Young Danish Photography '18, Fotografisk Center and DJ: The Photographers organize a FotoForum with the artists on 6 December. 17-19.
