About

Discover something special at Yorkshire Artspace Open Studios.

Whether you’re looking to buy a special Christmas present, enjoy a day with the family, top up your culture levels or simply treat yourself, try Yorkshire Artspace Open Studios this November.

Yorkshire Artspace will be bustling with shoppers, collectors and the curious, looking to find out more about the beautiful and unique work created by some of the UK’s most talented artists and makers.

Spread across three sites in Sheffield, over 100 studios will open to the public, showcasing and selling the work of ceramicists, jewellers, designers, painters, metalsmiths, illustrators, sculptors and textile artists.

There’ll be plenty to satisfy your creative appetite, with free activities, talks and workshops suitable for all ages, plus studio-based demonstrations to give visitors the chance to discover more about studio life.

Pop-up cafés are set to deliver well-earned treats to visitors throughout the weekend, with Motore Café bringing the best Italian pastries, cakes and coffees to Persistence Works, local favourite Tea with Percie providing hot and cold refreshments at Exchange Place Studios and The Rhubarb Shed serving healthy local produce at Manor Oaks Studios.

Kate Dore, Director of Yorkshire Artspace, says;

“People are fascinated by how things are made and we have a growing desire to own pieces with a local connection and to support local talent. We also love to get a glimpse into these unusual creative spaces and Open Studios is a rare opportunity to do just that.”

Emerging silversmith and jeweler Jen Ricketts who’s based at Persistence Works, says;

“This will be the first Open Studios I have taken part in from my new studio here at Yorkshire Artspace. It’s a great chance to show how much care and attention goes into the work I produce and to demystify the making process. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the results of our hard work with a larger audience.”
