About
Yok started his droopy eyed drawings in a salty sea shack down under in a town called Perth/Australia—he developed a passion for loopy moustaches, seaworthy beards and potato headed rad lads. Sheryo is a Brooklyn-based Singaporean visual/mural artist who paints imperfect gnarly characters that are calming to disoriented souls, and might cause skitter-scatter explosions in the brain.
Often referencing pulp illustrations, skateboard graphics and their unabashed affinity for kitsch, translate across as jovial, surreal imagery that speak to those who grew up admiring ’80s and ’90s skateboarding and surfing culture. Working from a home studio in Brooklyn, this "Danger Couple" has exhibited in Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Sydney, Taipei, Beijing, Singapore Bangkok and Hong Kong—as well as unofficial displays of street art in weird parts of the world that usually involve surf.
