20 YEARS NEUROTITAN - Grand opening and party of 20 years independent art in Berlin Mitte! Opening speech by borough mayor Dr. Christian Hanke (SPD).

About

The exhibition YES WE'RE OPEN! attempts to highlight the precarious situation experienced by artists seeking to work and  exhibit in Berlin. The show aims to make transparent the process behind producing an exhibition. Unusually, the opening on April 10 will not present a completed show, rather, a celebration of the arrival of the artists.

Over a period of seven weeks, invited artists, art-collectives and projects will have the opportunity to participate in an open studio landscape and establish their own working space. The gallery will host a process of creativity and exchange amongst artists and visitors. Our motto: minimum guidelines and maximum freedom.

The initial results of the art-lab will be presented two weeks after the artists move in on the 25th of April. The group exhibition opens in the context of the 20th Anniversary celebrations of neurotitan and Haus Schwarzenberg and the mayor of Berlin-Mitte, Dr. Christian Hanke will honour the occasion with an opening speech. The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of workshops, talks, forums and events until closing night on the 30th of May.
