YAP, the platform that supports talented young artists to carve career paths in the art world, is to showcase its latest crop of fledgling painters, sculptors and makers in a striking autumn exhibition of new work. All set against the ancient backdrop of Manor Barn, Buriton.

About

Over 20 young artists, recognised for their emerging skill and artistic vision, have been selected to take part in the YAP autumn show. From ambitious five-metre abstracts to the most delicate and meticulous sculptures, viewers can enjoy a wide range of exciting and fresh new work.

“I had my first group exhibition with YAP about 5 years ago and sold my first paintings with them. It is an experience that will stay with me because it was the first time I had shown my work in a professional way. Since then, YAP have introduced me to new clients and selected my work for exhibitions. It is always a great feeling being a part of a group exhibition with other up-and-coming artists …it feels like you’re all in it together and helping each other make it together.” Lily Rigby (YAP artist)

The exhibition also features two guest artists, both of whom have acted as YAP mentors to its young artists. On Wednesday 30 October, Epoh Beech screens her multi-award-winning The Masque of Blackness, a mesmerising hand-drawn animated short film that explores the spirit of place. And, Sussex based sculptor, Kate Viner has been commissioned to create a new piece in response that premiers during the week of the exhibition.

YAP founders, Louisa Higgs and Annabel Seal, have supported many young artists to steer a productive path towards making a living from their art since 2011. Notable for the partnerships they form with owners of eye-catching venues, most recently the Dorchester Arts Programme at 45 Park Lane, London, they continue to offer a vital and much-needed platform for emerging young artistic talents.

“… we are delighted to have another opportunity to help a new wave of rising young artists come through and make art a viable profession.” YAP

The exhibition runs from the 26 October until the 2 November, 11 am to 3 pm, Saturday to Saturday. Entry is £10. Visit www.yapart.co.uk for more information, events and to book your tickets.
