WRETCHED OF THE SCREEN takes its name from Hito Steyerl’s collection of essays from 2013. In it, Steyerl creates a scathing assessment of the socio-cultural implications of image production with digital media and our dependence on screen-based technology. The Wrong Embassy WRETCHED OF THE SCREEN will bring together a collection of artists' works that examine ‘the screen’ as a medium. During the online pavilion, artists have developed works focusing on the materiality and mediation of the screen throughout society. The IRL exhibition at MAS (Oxford, UK) @magdalenarts will be a chance to experience the actualized developments of their online research.
