This two-day course is an introduction to the technique of working with green wood, of a simple design that emphasizes the beauty of our raw material from the forest surrounding Cerdeira.

About

Peter Lanyon is one of the most extraordinary artists to make green wood furniture. Fortunately for us, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience!

In this course you can create a small bench or table, learning to handle the different hand tools to prepare the various pieces that make your work and in the end unite them and take a new piece of furniture home.

A course for all those interested with or without experience!

The course fee includes:

  • Integration in small working groups (4 to 6 people);
  • Training 6 - 8 hours/day with technical assistant, spoken in English and Portuguese;
  • Studio open 12 hours a day;
  • All materials;
  • Shared room accommodation in our Residences (shared house with equipped kitchen, changing room, washing machine and Wifi) or 10% discount for individual accommodation with a minimum of 2 nights.

Registration deadline: 22 March 2021

Peter Lanyon, his work brings together the skill, tools and innovation of a modern furniture manufacturer combined with the old tradition of "dodging" (working the green wood), where nothing is straight or predictable. He likes to combine green wood with modern materials and techniques that bring something new to the world of custom made furniture. He works mainly with local cut wood and fallen trees. His philosophy is that of minimal intervention - imposing as little as possible on the materials and leaving the soft curves as nature itself created them. Fortunately, one of his passions is teaching!
