Following on from her Friday evening talk, photographic artist Melinda Gibson presents a one-day workshop and group critique.
Through her work with found imagery, Melinda Gibson takes an experimental approach to the form, creating 'visual remixes' that force the viewer to reconsider the medium and its canon. 'By slicing, cutting and de-contexualising the images, I start to gain a greater appreciation of the works; I start understanding why and how these images have been created.' - Melinda Gibson.
In this workshop, Melinda will work with 10 photographers/photographic artists, helping them to gain new perspectives on a recent project or body of work. Melinda will help participants to reconsider their practice and gain new perspectives on a project.
Participants are invited to bring a single picture, or idea for a new project they feel can work in an exhibition or book format. Drawing on her own experimental approach, Melinda will work with the group to progress their work through open dialogue. Participants will be invited to view and critique each other's work, discuss ideas and techniques, and share ideas. Participants will leave the workshop having progressed their project in some way, with some actionable next steps to achieve their project goals or develop their work.
