Works in Sunlight is an off-grid exhibition to be staged in and around MEANTIME Project-Space, Cheltenham, incorporating a series of practical light workshops, off-site light interventions and sculptural installations and talks. The show examines contemporary artistic concerns regarding the use of light, its potential, function and purpose and looks beyond illumination to light as a medium and subject in its own right. Through processes that reinterpret old and new science and technology, this exhibition helps to form, and contribute to, a dialogue on the dawning of a new solar age.
MEANTIME is an independent project-space located in central Cheltenham presenting a monthly programme of artists' residencies, film screenings, live music, workshops and public events. MEANTIME provides a practical and critical environment for artists to realise new work and a platform for active engagement, dialogue and exchange in current art practice. MEANTIME is supported by Arts Council England, Arts Development and Virtual Arts Centre at Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, and the University of Gloucestershire.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 10th July and runs till Sunday 1st August.
