The Brick Lane Gallery is excited to present our Summer WORKS ON PAPER exhibition. This is a unique exhibition featuring a selection of local and international artists, including representation from Argentina, Botswana, Estonia, Italy, Poland, Russia, Venezuela and the UK.

About

The show aims to explore a variety of themes unveiled through the texture and materiality of paper, from images drawn by hand, ink and pencil to crayon, pastel, gouache or charcoal, this exhibition offers an in depth understanding of the relevance and distinctiveness of paper in contemporary art.

Ali Sappho is one of the remarkable artists who will be exhibiting her artworks. Through the use of pencils and oils she creates re-imagined autobiographical events and dreams. Her work can be likened to a journal of sorts; she uses it as a way to pinpoint her progress and understanding of both her artistic and spiritual ventures. Luis Nessi’s work is inspired and in a way affected by the social and political situation in Venezuela. His pieces are about exploration of techniques, a work in progress, using his own life and random thoughts and ideas for motivation. His main goal is to showcase his work, be able to afford new materials, better equipment so then he can experiment more.

You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of WORKS ON PAPER at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 20th July 2016.
