About

Work In Progress is a free event open to artists and makers at all stages of their careers. This WIP will be led by Birmingham based artist Navi Kaur, beginning with a presentation of her practice, followed by the opportunity to present your work-in-progress in a friendly and supportive peer review. To sign up for a five-minute presentation slot, or for help with how to set up Zoom, email jessica@northamptonarts.org.uk Presentation slots will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, as there are limited places.

This event is free but booking is essential. In light of the current COVID-19 crisis, the WIP will happen on Zoom – a link will be emailed to attendees.

Navi Kaur is an artist and educator based in Birmingham, UK. Navi often makes work commenting on the migrant experience, specifically around journeys, environment, storytelling and documentary. Inspired by an archive of family photographs found in her grandparents’ home, she produces work in response to the lives they have built here in the U.K, encompassing their Sikh faith and daily regimes, working predominantly through the processes of digital photography, film and installation.

Navi works closely with her Budimom, Surinder, and Baba Ji, Karamjit (paternal grandparents), to better understand her own heritage and culture through feelings of displacement in organised environments and highlights the importance of celebrating cultural diversity through cross-collaboration.
